The Universal Blog Icon
Does the world need a universally accepted blog icon? Maybe yes, maybe no… but 45,000 people a year think it does!
Looks like the World Wants a Blog Icon After all
45,000 people a year, visit my blog when searching for “Blog Icon”In October 2008 I was mulling over the idea that there isn’t a universally recognised blog icon, unfortunately after a few scribbles I got side tracked and forgot about it until a couple of months later when I found my scribbles in a notepad… so I launched illustrator and 15 mins later the blog icon was born. As you can probably tell, I based the icon on the RSS feed icon as virtually all blogs have an RSS feed option and that’s how a lot of people read them.
Since initially creating and posting it I’ve been surprised by how popular it’s become and the number of people using. I get around 120-130 people a day visiting my personal blog with searches for “Blog Icon”, that’s about 45,000 people a year! The blog icon is registered at Creative Commons as Attribution-ShareAlike http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/ ie anyone can use it, modify it, pass it on etc, but they must do so with the same rights, ie they shouldn’t charge anyone for it or add any restrictions,
